PELAGOS

The Pelagos laboratory studies the anthropized coastal pelagic ecosystems by using multidisciplinary approaches and according to two complementary research axes.

The first one is based on the analysis of biogeochemical flows and the notion of good ecological status. A specific emphasis  is placed on nutrient cycles and primary production along the land-sea continuum, as well as in the water-sediment interface.

The second is related to the dynamics of eukaryotic microbial communities and populations, with a particular focus on harmful phytoplankton blooms. The aim is to identify the biotic and abiotic factors influencing the temporal successions as well as the spatial structuring of populations and communities.
